The tree's flowers are small and yellowish-green, and they develop into the fruit, which is a drupe about 4-6 cm long and 2-3 cm in diameter.


The fruit of the Arecanut tree, the areca nut or betel nut, is consumed as a mild stimulant and is commonly used in many parts of Asia as an ingredient in traditional medicines and cultural practices. It is chewed with betel leaves and other ingredients such as tobacco, lime, and spices to produce a mild psychoactive effect.


Apart from its cultural significance, the Arecanut tree also has several uses in traditional medicine. Various parts of the tree, including the fruit, leaves, and stem, are believed to possess medicinal properties and are used to treat a variety of ailments such as digestive disorders, respiratory problems, and skin diseases.

However, the cultivation and consumption of the areca nut have been associated with several health risks, including oral cancer and other health issues. As a result, its use is regulated in some countries, and health authorities recommend limiting its consumption.
